The 8-light version of the s.luce Velo is a set of eight mouth-blown clear glass pendants hanging from a single round Modular ceiling plate 80 cm across. The plate, the lampholders and the cables are white, and the glass carries vertical cuts that stay visible on the shade wall. The shades are open at the bottom, so the light falls straight onto the surface below. How big it is and where to hang it The ceiling plate is 80 cm in diameter and 4 cm deep, and the eight cables fan out from it across that full width — that is the figure to compare with the free area on your own ceiling. A single shade measures 25 cm across and 27 cm high. Each textile cable is 500 cm long and the manufacturer expects you to shorten or extend it yourself, so the shades can be staggered at different heights. The fitting is meant for tall interiors: galleries, open stairwells and rooms open to the floor above. The shipping weight is over 33 kg, so the fixing has to reach the load-bearing ceiling structure. How much light it gives and what you need to buy The fitting takes eight E27 bulbs of up to 40 W each. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself. The glass is clear and the filament stays visible through the shade, which makes decorative filament bulbs part of the look rather than a hidden component. It can be dimmed, but that needs a dimmer and bulbs described as dimmable; the fitting itself carries no control gear. It runs on 230 V, and protection class I means it must be connected to an installation with an earth conductor. Materials and rooms The shades are glass, the ceiling plate and suspension are metal. The manufacturer intends the fitting for the living room, the dining area, the entrance hall and above a stairwell — anywhere several metres of clear height remain overhead.
