It increases driving comfort and prevents damage to the transmission caused by vibrations. It also serves as a contact surface for the clutch disc. When replacing the clutch, check the flywheel for grooves or cracks. Heat discoloration indicates that the clutch has been slipping for too long. A worn flywheel leads to jerky engagement. Vibrations or humming while driving are further indications of defective damping elements. High-quality replacements are available here.
