The ATA was also used in various Mercedes models. It shows °C and not °F. After decades of use and frequent temperature fluctuations, the sealing of the LCD elements eventually fails and the display "leaks". Although the entire component still functions fully, the numbers and symbols can no longer be fully read. The associated conductive contact rubbers also age over time and are a common reason for the incomplete readability of the displays. As a "do it yourself" solution, you can also repair the display yourself as a hobbyist using the components offered here and our illustrated instructions. No complex assembly work or soldering is required during the repair. Because the aging of displays is a general problem, we generally advise against purchasing used, "still intact" components.
