The control arm thus establishes a defined connection between the wheel and the body. The most common cause of control arm defects is the rubber bushings, which become brittle and crack over time. This results in the control arm having more play without the desired damping. Accordingly, a defective rubber bushing on the control arm is noticeable by reduced tracking accuracy, noise when driving over bumps (rattling), poorer handling in corners, and uneven tire wear. A damaged control arm can affect other suspension components, so it should be replaced immediately to prevent costly repairs. In many cases, it is more economical to replace the entire control arm rather than pressing in individual rubber bushings.
