The "large" on-board computer was also used in other models of the same era, and the display is compatible with them as well. After many years of use and frequent temperature fluctuations, the seal of the LCD elements eventually fails, and the display "leakes". Although the overall function of the component is still fully intact, the numbers and symbols can no longer be read completely. The aging of the associated conductive rubber contacts is also a common reason for incomplete readability of the display, even if the liquid crystal display (LCD) itself is still completely intact.
