Gear for VOLVO 240 245 740 VDO Speedometer/Instrument Cluster V26 Excellent build quality Description: If the odometer/trip meter on your Volvo has failed, this gear is the cause. The reason is a manufacturing defect. The original gear was made of urethane but factory-lubricated with a petroleum-based lubricant. Over the years, this lubricant has made the material porous. Therefore, you should thoroughly clean the components of the lubricant before replacing the gear. The material of this gear is made with graphite additives and requires no lubricant! The adjacent disc gear also frequently fails because it, too, has come into contact with the wrong lubricant. To avoid duplicate installation work, we recommend replacing both gears together with the corresponding disc gear. These can be found in our shop. Note: Earlier modelsusually have a V25 (25 teeth) installed. ONLY for models with VDO instruments. Please first check if it is a VDO speedometer, remove the speedometer and count the number of teeth before purchasing. We stock all common gears and will quickly and free of charge supply the correct size if needed. The involute tooth geometry is maintained; this is the only way to ensure low-friction sliding of the tooth flanks between the gear pairs. We use the thermoplastic Celron with graphite additives as the material. These ensure low friction and wear-free operation. If you disassemble the speedometer beforehand, please note that the speedometer needle shaft is very delicate. Grasp the speedometer needle in the center and turn it counterclockwise, pulling gently as you do so. Friction is all that holds the needle on the shaft.
