The connecting rod is guided on the crankshaft bearing surfaces by plain bearings (connecting rod bearings). A defective connecting rod bearing is primarily noticeable through noise (knocking, clattering), which increases with rising engine speed. If a damaged connecting rod bearing is not replaced promptly, it can lead to significant consequential damage (bearing seizure), such as the destruction of the bearing surfaces on the crankshaft. Therefore, defective connecting rod bearings should be replaced immediately. When working on the connecting rod, the connecting rod bolts and nuts should always be replaced as well. Here you will find high-quality replacements as described in the title. Please note that the early 356A engines require different bearing shells with the "nose" on the opposite side.
