The stackable ReadyPlate™ agar plates were specially designed to increase safety during handling, transport, and incubation. ReadyPlate™ agar plates have a standard diameter of 90 mm. PEMBA is a highly specific, selective medium for isolating and enumerating B. cereus from food. Polymyxin and a significant concentration of nutrients ensure the high selectivity of this medium. It promotes the growth of even small numbers of B. cereus cells and spores from food with a high microbial load. The low peptone content in the medium promotes sporulation, and sodium pyruvate reduces the colony size of the organisms.
