A ceiling rose that hides in the ceiling The usual canopy of a pendant is a visible disc screwed to the ceiling. This rose works the other way round: it is recessed into an opening, so after installation only a thin black ring and the fitting's cable show. The effect is of a pendant emerging straight from the plane of the ceiling with nothing in between — a solution for interiors where a clean ceiling and a minimum of visible hardware matter. Made for the FITU series This is not a universal rose. The manufacturer specifies it for SLV FITU series pendants — it is matched to their cable and fixing. Before buying, check that the fitting you intend to hang comes from that series; it may not suit pendants from other makers. Cut-out: 6.8 cm across, 5 cm deep The ceiling needs a round opening 6.8 cm in diameter with 5 cm of recess depth above it. The second figure is easily overlooked and is the critical one: in a shallow plasterboard grid, or where services run above the ceiling, the rose simply will not fit. The rose itself is 8.5 cm in outside diameter and 3.3 cm high, so the ring covers the edge of the cut-out with room to spare. Construction and ratings The rose is made of steel in matt black, with a component in PA 66 polyamide. It works at 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz. IP20 restricts it to dry interiors. Weight: 137 g net.
