A cylindrical basket woven from pandan leaf. The top band at the rim is left in the raw, straw-coloured weave, while the whole wall below it is covered in dense rows of small cream-white shells, stitched on one beside the next. The basket is open at the top, with no lid and no handles. How big it is and where it stands The base is 34 cm across and the height reaches 40 cm. That is a floor-standing size — at 40 cm the basket will not go under most worktops or into an ordinary shelf bay, so measure the space for it at home before buying. The wall is stiff enough that the basket stands up on its own when empty, and the cream shell layer runs from the base almost to the rim — it stays fully visible even with the basket against a wall. What it is made of The structural material is pandan leaf, the same plant that Bali mats and bags are woven from. The weave runs diagonally and turns into a tighter-woven collar at the rim, which stiffens the opening.
