The Peaky Vase in size S is a small terracotta vessel with a bellied body and a narrow neck that ends in a pronounced collar. Fine horizontal ribbing runs around the body, and the finish is matt black, unglazed and without sheen. How much room it takes The vase stands 14 cm high and measures 13 cm across the widest part of the body. Both figures are worth holding against the spot you have in mind: on a narrow windowsill or a shelf what matters is the 13 cm width, while on a 75 cm dining table it is the 14 cm height, low enough not to block the person sitting opposite. The neck is markedly narrower than the belly, so stems gather into a single slim bunch instead of splaying outwards. At that opening diameter the vase takes a few stems rather than a wide bouquet. Fresh flowers need an inner container For fresh arrangements the manufacturer advises placing a glass or another small container inside the vase and filling that with water. Water does not go straight into the terracotta, and the inner container is yours to supply — the vase is delivered on its own. It also has to pass through the narrow neck, so it needs to be slim enough. Dried flowers and grasses go in with no insert at all. Terracotta and where it can stand The body is terracotta, fired clay left unglazed, which is what gives the matt, coarse surface and the even black across the whole piece. The manufacturer specifies indoor use only, so a terrace or a balcony falls outside what it covers. In a living room the vase sits on a side table, a sideboard or a shelf; in a bathroom it fits on the counter beside the basin.
