The s.luce Made Ring is a pendant built as a single 150 cm circle finished in black. The light band runs the full circumference, while the profile itself is 8 cm tall and 1 cm thick, so seen edge-on the ring almost disappears. It hangs on thin cables that gather into a small ceiling fixing. How big the ring is and where it hangs A 150 cm diameter is the figure to compare with whatever the ring will hang above — over a table 80–90 cm wide it overhangs both edges, so this size is meant for a long table, a kitchen island or the middle of an open space rather than for a single piece of furniture. Five metres of cable are supplied and the drop is adjusted by shortening the suspension cables, which is the reserve that lets the ring hang in a room open to the floor above or in a stairwell. The maker lists stairwells, foyers and office interiors among its intended settings. How much light it gives The ring puts out 6594 lm — the level at which a fitting is the main light of a large room rather than an addition to it. Its 4000 K is neutral white: white without yellow warmth and without blue coolness, the light that makes a room read as businesslike rather than as evening. The fitting dims, but no dimmer is included: the ring works with leading-edge and trailing-edge phase dimmers, that is, with an ordinary wall dimmer marked as LED-compatible. Without one it runs at full output. Finish and the other sizes The ring is made of metal and plastic and the finish is uniformly black, with no ornament and no visible joins.
