The AVORIAZ 1391 is a free-standing garden sphere 40 cm across, moulded in white PE/ABS. The body is a single milky shape with no seams or fittings — it glows across its whole surface rather than in one direction. The sphere stands on its own small feet and measures 40.6 cm tall. Where it stands and how it is powered This is a portable fitting, not a fixed one: a white cable 2 m long runs out of the base and ends in a mains plug. The socket therefore has to be within those two metres — beyond that you need an extension lead rated for garden use. Protection class II means no earth conductor is required. IP65 means dust-tight and proof against a jet of water from any direction, so the sphere can stay out on the lawn or terrace in the rain and will take a hose. At 1.6 kg net it can be moved with one hand. Which bulb to buy There is one E27 socket inside and no bulb is included. The assembly sheet caps it at 20 W in LED form and allows an envelope up to 90 mm across — so a large globe lamp fits, and it lights the body more evenly than a narrow candle lamp would. Colour and brightness are yours to pick: 2700 K gives warm, slightly yellow light, and a lamp of about 800 lm matches the old 60 W incandescent and is enough to make the sphere read clearly after dark. The manufacturer does not list the fitting as dimmable. To reach the lampholder you lift the body off the lower base, which is what the holder is screwed to. Size and the rest of the AVORIAZ family Forty centimetres across reaches roughly half the height of a garden table — visible from the far end of the garden without towering over a border. In daylight the plain white sphere reads as a garden object rather than as a lamp. The AVORIAZ 1391 is the medium size: Mantra makes a small sphere (ref. 1388) and a large one (ref. 1394) in the same family, so several diameters can be grouped together.
