This is not a luminaire. The Nordlux Smart Sensor is a small wireless sensor that emits no light of its own — its job is to switch luminaires belonging to the Nordlux Smart Light system on and off. It is 7.6 cm tall and 4.5 cm wide, in a black plastic housing, and weighs 181 grams.Two sensors in one housingInside, a motion sensor and a daylight sensor work in parallel. The combination is the practical point: a motion detector alone would switch on at midday too, and a dusk switch alone would keep the light burning all night. Together they allow the rule "come on when someone passes, but only after dark". The sensitivity of both — to movement and to darkness — is set in the Nordlux Smart Light app.No cables, no electricianThe sensor is battery powered and talks over Bluetooth, so it needs no wiring and no back box. It can be stuck or screwed almost anywhere — including places no supply was ever run to. The manufacturer quotes over 400 days of operation on one set of batteries. A bracket is included for angling the sensor or mounting it in a corner; the sensor itself turns through 120° and tilts through 100°, which is what sets the area it watches.What it needs in order to workThe sensor controls Nordlux Smart Light luminaires and bulbs only — it does not replace an ordinary switch and will not work with just any lamp. If you do not already own a piece of that system, the sensor on its own will do nothing. On the other hand a single sensor handles up to 50 lights, so in a larger installation one detection point can switch a whole room or a whole corridor.Where it is allowed to goIP54 covers protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, which is why the manufacturer permits mounting both outdoors and in a bathroom — uncommon for a battery-powered sensor. It is not, however, rated for seaside conditions, where salt accelerates corrosion.
