E282 is a 100 cm outdoor spike light: a slim aluminium stem topped with a conical shade angled towards the ground. The body is finished in graphite and the lamp sits behind tempered glass. The ground spike is supplied with the fitting. How tall it is and how it is installed The 10 cm shade sits a metre above the ground, so the fitting throws light over low planting and onto the surface below instead of disappearing into a bed. Installation is simply a matter of pushing the spike into soil — there is no cut-out to prepare and no base to build. A 40 cm tail of cable leaves the fitting and connects to the garden circuit at the point where it is staked. Where the spike will not enter the ground, the manufacturer offers the separate E282-SP base, sold on its own. The light runs on 230 V in protection class I, so it needs an earthed connection. How much light E282 gives The fitting takes one GU10 lamp of up to 20 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself — along paths 2700–3000 K is the usual pick, giving warm light with a slightly yellow cast. The conical shade is opaque and points downwards, so the beam lands as a contained pool on the surface right beside the stem. That keeps the light on the route and out of the eyes of anyone walking past, and a run of fittings spaced a few metres apart traces the line of a path. Construction and weather resistance The housing is aluminium and the lamp chamber is closed with tempered glass. IP65 means fully dust-tight and protected against water jets, so the fitting works outdoors all year with no cover over it. The IK04 impact rating covers the knocks that happen when mowing grass or raking leaves. The manufacturer gives a three-year warranty. Where it belongs The manufacturer intends it for gardens and outdoor spaces and for hotel grounds. The form is modernist: a thin stem, a plain cone, no ornament.
