They are used for leukocyte counting. The large square in the middle is divided into 25 group squares, each with a side length of 0.2 mm. Each group square consists of 16 small squares, each with a side length of 0.05 mm and an area of 0.0025 mm². The 5 group squares in the middle large square are used for platelet and erythrocyte counting. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that all group squares have triple border lines on all sides.
