GES2422C is a slim garden bollard 50 cm high: an aluminium shaft just 25 mm in diameter on a Ø50 mm base, topped by a horizontal head 125 mm long. It emits 1.5 W at 99 lm in 3000 K. 24 V DC supply — this is not a plug-in lamp The most important fact before buying: the fitting runs on 24 V direct current, not 230 V. That means it requires a separate 230 V → 24 V DC power supply, which is not included, and a low-voltage run laid through the garden. It is a system solution: one power supply serves several or a dozen such bollards, and low-voltage cable can be laid shallower and without the conduit required for 230 V. What you cannot do is connect this lamp straight to an existing mains circuit. 99 lm — what it actually lights This is a marker fitting, not a lighting one. A hundred lumens corresponds roughly to the brightness of a votive candle — enough to mark the edge of a path, a step or the line of a border, but not to light the ground you walk on. That is a deliberate design choice: with a 340° beam the light spreads almost all round, making a small soft point in the dark rather than a pool on the paving. A run of a dozen such bollards draws the line of a walk; a single one does nothing but decorate. In a garden that has concrete consequences: if the cable is damaged by accident — a spade, a fork, a tent peg — there is no mains voltage at the exposed ends. With 230 V fittings such an incident is a matter for an electrician and an RCD; at 24 V it is a matter of replacing a length of cable. Variants in the family The maker offers the same design in two heights — 300 mm (GES2420C) and 500 mm (GES2422C) — in two finishes: anthracite grey and dark brown (GES2421C / GES2423C). Each combination also comes in 4000 K (codes ending N instead of C). Output stays the same — 99 lm — regardless of height and finish, so the two heights can be mixed in one run without any difference in brightness. IP65 near the ground IP65 is full dust tightness and resistance to water jets from a nozzle — the level appropriate for a fitting standing in a border, a garden hose and a sprinkler. It does not cover submersion, so do not set the bollard in a hollow where water stands after heavy rain. With a 25 mm shaft it is worth remembering the mechanics too: this is a slim, light structure (130 g), meant for borders and edges rather than places a mower passes regularly.
