GES720 is a low garden bollard 30 cm high and 9 cm in diameter — the smallest of the three heights in which Gea Luce offers this body. That height has a specific job: the light falls from paving level, lighting the surface and the edge of a border rather than glaring into the eyes of anyone walking the path. Three heights, one design The same bollard exists as 30 cm (GES720), 50 cm (GES721) and 80 cm (GES722) — in an identical finish and with the same lampholder. That matters when planning a run: 30 cm suits paths and steps, 50 cm a driveway entrance and borders, 80 cm places where the light must reach further. They can be mixed in one garden without breaking the style. The maker also offers a matching wall light in the same finish. Aluminium and an opal diffuser The body is aluminium, finished in metallic grey — the same finish the whole family carries in its "grigio metallizzato" version (white is GES710, graphite GES730, brown GES2010). The diffuser is opal polycarbonate rather than glass: polycarbonate takes impact, so it will not crack from a stone thrown by a mower or from hail, and the opal finish spreads the lamp's light around the whole circumference instead of casting a hard filament shadow. You choose the lamp The fitting has an E27 socket rated to a maximum of 18 W, supply 220–240 V AC. No bulb is included. The 18 W limit rules out old incandescent sources and in practice means LED — an advantage in a garden fitting, where consumption over a whole night genuinely counts. The maker lists its own 10 W E27 sources as suitable, at 855–910 lm, in 3000 K, 4000 K and 6500 K, with a 240° beam and CRI above 80. For a path, 3000 K suits best — warm light does not wash out the colour of planting and attracts insects less than cold light. That is enough for a bollard standing on a lawn or in a border. It is not protection against submersion: do not set the bollard in a hollow where water gathers after heavy rain, nor at a pool edge where fittings get hosed directly. Where to put it At 30 cm, GES720 works best in a rhythm rather than singly — spacing every 2–3 m along a path gives a continuous band of light with no dark gaps. Plan them where the surface changes level: at a step, on a bend in the walk, at the edge of a driveway. Aluminium does not rust, but near the sea and in winter road salt every painted finish works harder — washing the housing with clean water once a season is worth the minute.
