HEAVY DUTY is an outdoor spotlight from the Czech brand Rendl light studio (code R11948). The cylindrical aluminium body in anthracite sits in a U-shaped yoke; the front is closed by glass held with four screws. It measures 18 cm long and 9.5 cm across and weighs 580 g. The maximum lamp is 12 W The fitting takes a GU10 lamp and the manufacturer rates it for a maximum of 12 W, on the assumption of a modern LED. That is a ceiling not to exceed: the housing is sealed (IP65), so a hotter, more powerful lamp has no way to shed its heat. The lamp is not included; Rendl recommends its own G11841 source for this fitting. It is dimmable, but only if you fit a dimmable lamp and use a compatible dimmer. Aiming the light The yoke lets the head tilt through 180°, so the same unit can uplight a tree trunk, graze a section of façade from the side, or wash a path – loosen the side screws and set the angle. This is a spot: it makes a narrow accent rather than an even wash across a large surface. Connection – an unterminated cable It comes with 1.5 m of cable, but with no plug and no fitted end. That is deliberate: the fitting is wired permanently into a 230 V garden circuit at a junction box, by an electrician. It is not a plug-in lamp. If you want to stand the spot in soil rather than screw it down, Rendl sells a ground spike, R11755, separately – it is not in the box. Weather resistance IP65 means complete dust protection and resistance to water jets – the fitting can stand in the rain and survive a hose-down of the terrace. Aluminium plus glass is a combination that copes well with year-round outdoor duty, and anthracite is less conspicuous in a garden than a pale finish.
