Holborn Medium Outdoor Wall Half Lantern - 2 light sources - Verdigris Elstead

Name: Holborn Medium Outdoor Wall Half Lantern - 2 light sources - Verdigris Elstead
Brand: Elstead Lighting

The medium Holborn is an outdoor wall half lantern from Elstead Lighting's own range. Its box-shaped body of solid brass carries a Verdigris finish – a blue-green patina with darker shading – and the sides and front are closed by bevelled panes of clear glass. A pierced frieze of upright bars runs along the top, and two small feet sit at the bottom. The maker describes the design as English, inspired by the Georgian era. Size and where to mount it The lantern is 31 cm high and 25.5 cm wide, and projects 11 cm from the wall. The back is flat and sits against the facade, so it needs a straight stretch of wall – compare the width with the space between your door and a window or downpipe. It weighs 3.3 kg. The IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, so the lantern can be fitted outdoors – by the entrance, on the facade or next to a terrace. It is a Class I fitting and must be connected to an earth conductor. Bulbs Inside are two candle-style E14 lampholders, each rated by the maker for a bulb of up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included – you need to buy two. The glass is clear, so the bulbs stay visible; as a separate accessory the maker recommends a clear E14 LED candle bulb. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs – to dim it you need a dimmer switch and two bulbs marked as dimmable. Style and range Patinated solid brass, bevelled glass and the frieze give the lantern a classic English character. It suits a house facade, an entrance or a terrace, as well as venues such as hotels and restaurants. The Holborn range also includes a smaller single-light half lantern and a ceiling light, and besides Verdigris it comes in brushed and polished brass, dark bronze and polished chrome.Show more
