BERYL 2 BLACK 976H1 is a two-light pendant on a horizontal bar 52 cm wide, with two dome-shaped metal shades – matt black outside and white inside. The white shade interior is not a cosmetic detail The shades are powder-coated matt black, but their interior stays white. The difference shows the first time you switch them on: a black interior absorbs part of the light and gives a narrow, hard cone; a white one reflects and scatters it, so the light comes out brighter and softer and the rim of the shade casts no sharp shadow. From the outside, meanwhile, the fitting stays dark and graphic. It is a deliberate choice in over-table lighting: the object should be high-contrast, the light beneath it welcoming. Two shades on a 52 cm bar The shades, 15 cm across each, sit on a horizontal bar at a spacing chosen so that the two cones of light overlap at table height. The whole fitting is 52 cm wide and 15 cm deep, and the drop reaches 86 cm. Over a four-seat table that size is enough; over a top longer than 160 cm the three-light version of the same collection suits better. A cable that belongs to the design The way the supply is routed stands out: the cable leaves the bar and runs loose to the canopy, forming a visible arc. The manufacturer notes that it can be fixed at a point of the user's choosing – not an oversight but an adjustment. In practice it means the fitting can be offset sideways from the ceiling outlet: the canopy stays where the wiring is, and the lamp hangs where the table stands. In a refurbishment without moving the junction box, that is often the decisive solution. E27 sockets, 15 W per lamp at most The lampholders are E27, and the manufacturer gives a limit of 15 W LED per lamp. It is a figure characteristic of fittings with a closed metal shade: the limit follows from heat dissipation, not from capability. In practice two 8–10 W LEDs give 1400–1800 lm over the table, which is ample. Because the lamp is hidden in the dome and seen only from below, its shape does not matter – an ordinary frosted LED will do. Colour does matter: 2700–3000 K over a dining table, cooler 4000 K only if work happens at the same surface. Build and installation The whole is metal, powder-coated – a powder finish is harder than paint and takes handling during a lamp change better. Weight is just 1.3 kg, so fixing needs no special anchors. The fixed element is 20 cm tall. Supply 230 V, protection IP20 – dry interiors only.
