Sandvik 795AL is a Norwegian outdoor ceiling light by Norlys in aluminium (RAL 9006): an aluminium casting with satin toughened glass, one GU10 socket up to 4 W, IP54, IK08. A narrow beam and no light upwards This fitting does not spread light all round — Norlys states a **single-sided 25° beam facing down** and **ULOR 0%**, meaning literally no flux escaping above the horizontal. In practice that is a concentrated pool beneath the fitting, right for lighting an entrance, a stair or a section of driveway, and not for brightening a whole terrace. Zero upward light also matters formally: in schemes that limit light pollution it is a requirement, not a marketing virtue. The **BUG rating B0-U0-G0** confirms no backlight, no uplight and no glare. Cast aluminium and glass, not plastic The body is a **powder-painted aluminium casting** and the lens is toughened satin glass, not polycarbonate. Glass does not yellow under UV and does not haze from cleaning, so after several seasons the fitting still looks the same; in exchange it is heavier and more sensitive to point impact, which Norlys offsets with **IK08** (5 J impact resistance). Sealing comes from a silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland. The finish is RAL 9006 — a light grey-silver "aluminium", not polished metal. Mounting and connection The fitting is fixed through **two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 68 × 68 mm** — a square pattern worth marking out before drilling. The terminal block accepts conductors up to 3×2.5 mm², or up to 3×1.5 mm² where the circuit loops through successive fittings; the entry takes round cable ø7–10.5 mm. Three cores rather than two is no accident: the fitting works in **protection class I** and requires an earth conductor. Net weight 0.59 kg. Light source and versions The **GU10 socket is left empty** — no lamp is included and it is end-user replaceable. The limit is 4 W; Norlys states that a typical source gives about **250 lm at an efficacy of 62.5 lm/W**, and names specific models: the Philips Master LEDspot MV 250 lm / 4 W / 2700 K / 25D in its dimmable version, and the Osram LED Parathom Advanced/Pro PAR16 GU10. The lamp's beam should match the fitting's 25° — a wider bulb blurs the very effect it is bought for.
