SOPRA 32 is a flush ceiling light – a round black base and a gold wire-mesh shade 32 cm across, with a glass diffuser hidden inside it. The whole fitting is just 23 cm deep. Two layers of shade, two lighting effects This fitting lights in two ways at once, and that is its whole point. The glass diffuser inside spreads the bulb's output, so looking up at the lamp you do not see a glowing point – the light is even and does not dazzle. The open mesh outside lets some of that light through sideways and onto the ceiling, casting a delicate shadow pattern around the fitting. The result is proper general lighting and a decorative object in one body. 23 cm deep – the ceiling stays clear The fitting sits directly against the ceiling, with no cable and no rod. In a typical 2.5 m room that leaves over 2.25 m of clear space beneath it, so it does not get in the way in a hallway, a corridor or a room with a low ceiling – exactly where a pendant simply intrudes. A 32 cm diameter is the right scale for a medium room, a bedroom or an entrance hall. The gold interior warms the light The mesh is gold on the inside as well, and that is not only a matter of looks: light reflected off a gold surface takes on a warmer tone, even if the bulb itself is neutral white. In the evening that produces an effect a white shade cannot. A GX53 socket and a 10 W ceiling The fitting takes one GX53 source – a flat "puck" LED that fits into a shallow body where a classic E27 bulb would not. 10 W is the maximum lamp that may be fitted, not the luminaire's own power; a modern 10 W GX53 diode typically yields 800–1,000 lm. No bulb is supplied, so the colour is your choice – with a gold-lined shade, neutral white is worth considering, since the mesh will warm it anyway.
