An RGB LED strip from LED Labs' Standard line, index 16-1019-02. The five-metre reel carries 300 5050 SMD diodes, 60 per metre, each combining a red, a green and a blue chip — the colour is set by a controller, not by swapping the strip. The board is 10 mm wide and uses a 2 oz copper layer.What has to be bought with itThe strip runs on 12 V DC and draws 14.4 W per metre, so a full reel needs a 12 V driver rated at 72 W or more. No driver is supplied. Changing colour needs a separate RGB controller — without one the colour range stays unused, because four wires run to the strip: a common positive and three channels.It is sold as a complete 5 m reel. The repeating module is 50 mm long and the strip is cut in those steps, which lets it follow the length of a cabinet or a recess without writing off a whole piece.Where it can be mountedAn IP65 rating means a dust-tight body protected against water jets — the silicone layer keeps moisture and splashes off the electronics, but the strip is not made to be submerged. The manufacturer gives a working range of −20 °C to +60 °C, which covers unheated spaces as well.Double-sided adhesive tape runs along the back, so a clean, degreased surface needs no further fixings. The 10 mm width decides which aluminium profile the strip will sit in — compare that figure with the internal width of the profile you have in mind.How long it lastsThe manufacturer declares 15,000 hours to the L70/B50 standard, the point at which a typical diode still gives 70% of its initial output.
