The TVC tubes for total viable count (TVC) of non-fermenting organisms enable more comprehensive detection within a shorter timeframe during sterility testing. As organisms grow in the broth medium, the generated carbon dioxide (CO2) diffuses through a membrane layer into a soft agar plug containing a dye indicator. The resulting color change of the dye is read by the Soleris instrument. The membrane layer also acts as a barrier to prevent product interference with the optical reading system. In a study conducted under the Performance Tested Method℠ Program of the AOAC Research Institute, the Soleris® NF-TVC tube proved to be an effective method for the semi-quantitative detection of total viable count in the following sample types: raw chicken, ham, lettuce, almonds, black pepper, cheesecake, powdered ice cream mix, non-fat dry milk, and cocoa powder. The test duration is 24 hours, with the exception of cocoa powder (72 hours).Meer tonen
