Arion XXL is a pendant light built from six flexible LED light hoses of differing lengths, gathered into an aluminium canopy 120 cm across. The hoses are 2.5 cm in diameter and hang in free loops — the manufacturer runs them without an inner wire and without a rigid frame, so the shape of each loop comes from the weight of the hose itself. The canopy on this version is white. How much room it needs The whole composition measures about 550 cm — a figure to compare against the height of the space it is to hang in. The manufacturer intends it for tall, representative spaces: galleries, hotel lobbies, open stairwells and living rooms with a void. Versions up to 9 metres long are made to order. The canopy takes up a 120 cm circle on the ceiling and needs that much clear surface. The fitting weighs 12 kg, so the ceiling and the fixing have to carry that load — this is not a job for an ordinary ceiling hook. How much light it gives and how it is controlled The integrated LED delivers 40 000 lm at 500 W. For comparison, an old 60 W bulb gave about 800 lm, so this fitting lights the whole volume of a room rather than the area beneath it. 3000 K is warm white, and colour rendering above Ra 90 means the colours of fabric and wood read faithfully under it. The hoses emit all round, a full 360°, which keeps the light soft and stops it drawing hard shadows. The fitting can be dimmed, and the manufacturer also provides for control through Casambi and DALI — the dimmer or controller is chosen separately. Build and connection The canopy is aluminium and modular in construction; the hoses themselves are plastic. The light source cannot be replaced, as it is built in; the manufacturer states 25 000 hours of life, which at three hours a day works out at roughly 22 years. The fitting runs on 230 V and belongs to protection class I, so it needs an installation with an earth conductor. Each piece is made individually to order, and the length of the separate hoses is matched to the particular interior.Meer tonen
