A flat white 116 × 116 mm block with a lens strip The IS 180 digi is a surface-mounted wall sensor with a 116 × 116 mm face and a depth of only 42 mm. The whole optic sits in a narrow strip along the lower edge, so the housing reads as a smooth white square rather than as a typical detector with a bulging dome. The colour is white RAL 9003 and the material is weather-resistant plastic. 180°, in three individually adjustable zones The detection field covers 180° with a 90° opening angle. Range depends on the direction the movement comes from: tangentially — across the sensor's field of view — up to 8 m (101 m²); radially, straight towards the sensor, up to 6 m (57 m²). That is normal for PIR detectors: crosswise movement cuts through more lens segments. The field is split into three zones whose sensitivity is set independently, so you can pull back the one facing the street and leave the driveway at full sensitivity. Set up from a phone, without opening the housing Configuration runs over Bluetooth in the free STEINEL Connect app on a phone or tablet — no reaching for potentiometers up a ladder. From the app you set the on-time anywhere from 5 seconds to 60 minutes, the twilight threshold between 2 and 1000 lx (with a Teach function to learn it), night mode, test mode, and the masking of individual segments of the detection field. The detectors also link to one another over Bluetooth Mesh, and the neighbour-group function lets a detection at one unit switch on the light at the others as well. What the relay output will carry The output switches resistive loads up to 1000 W. LED lamps carry lower limits, set by driver inrush currents: 16 W for lamps under 2 W and 64 W for lamps over 2 W. Fluorescent lamps on electronic ballasts up to 430 W, low-voltage halogen up to 1000 VA, capacitive load up to 88 µF. The detector's own consumption is 0.6 W. Mount at 1.8–2.5 m The manufacturer gives a mounting height of 1.80 to 2.50 m, with 2 m as the optimum — lower and the detection field becomes too shallow, higher and it starts reacting to movement beyond the fence. Under-crawl protection covers the area directly below the unit, so nobody slips past "beneath the field of view". Screws, wall plugs and an Allen key are in the box; a corner bracket is not included and has to be bought separately. Where it works IP54 protection and an operating range of −20 to +40 °C point the detector primarily outdoors: above the front door, on the facade by the driveway, on a terrace or balcony, around the house. Nothing prevents indoor use either — a hallway, a stairwell, a garage — where the point is usually just that the light comes on by itself when somebody walks in carrying shopping.
