GFA1071 is a surface-mounted ceiling light from the Italian brand Gea Led – a small white cylinder 11.4 cm across and 7.5 cm tall that emits in two directions at once. Bi-emission – why it matters The manufacturer splits the power into two outputs: 10 W downwards and 2 W upwards. Those two watts aimed at the ceiling solve the usual failing of a small surface-mounted fitting – the dark ring around it. The ceiling immediately around the body is lightly washed, so the fitting does not sit against it as a hard silhouette, and the room reads as taller. Together they give 900 lm, about what a classic 75 W bulb produced. CRI 90 in a fitting this small Colour rendering is above 90 – clearly above the CRI 80 typical of this class. The practical difference shows most on reds and skin tones: under CRI 80 timber can look grey and food flat. At CRI 90 fabrics, wood and food look as they do in daylight, which is why this fitting works well over a kitchen worktop, in a dressing room and in a bathroom (outside the wet zones – the rating is IP20). Warm 3000 K and a wide spread 3000 K is warm white – for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways. The 120° beam angle means a wide, soft spread rather than a spot: one fitting will light a small corridor or hall, while several on a grid give even general light in a larger room. Build and installation The body is aluminium in satin white, the diffuser methacrylate. The fitting is protection class II – double-insulated, needing no earth conductor, which simplifies installation in older two-core wiring. It mounts on the surface, with no hole to cut, so it also suits a concrete slab. The LED is permanently built in, with a rated life of 30,000 hours.
