SIGNATURE W0352 is a wall light built from two parts that do entirely different jobs. Against the wall sits a disc of amber glass 22 cm across – slightly domed, with a visible, uneven texture. From its centre a brass cylinder projects, capped by a round opal lens, standing 8.5 cm off the wall. Why the glass is behind, not in front In a conventional sconce the shade covers the source. Here it is the other way round: the LED shines forwards through an opal lens, and the glass disc stays behind it, in shadow. What matters is what bounces off it – part of the light returns to the wall and passes through the amber glass, which begins to glow warmly around the brass stem. Switched off, the fitting reads as a decorative object; switched on, as a point of light with a halo. Light output The integrated 9 W LED module delivers 855 lm at a warm 3000 K. That is enough for a section of wall, a hallway or the space beside a bed, but not for the general lighting of a room – with this construction most of the flux goes forward in a narrow sector. Energy class G. The manufacturer states plainly that the fitting cannot be connected to a dimmer – this is not a question of bulb choice, since the source is built in; brightness cannot be adjusted. Construction Metal in an antique brass finish; lens and disc in glass. The amber glass is not evenly coloured – it has a visible structure, so the tone shifts across the face and each piece looks slightly different. Antique brass is a matt, subdued finish; it does not mirror the room the way polished gold does, and needs no polishing over time. An IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry interiors. The larger version The same design exists at 35 cm diameter under the reference W0353. With a pair flanking a mirror or a bed it is worth considering which size suits the width of the wall – 22 cm reads as an accent, 35 cm as a dominant element.
