Cleveland is a low garden lantern standing 109.4 cm tall: a fluted column rises from a flared foot and carries a many-sided lantern topped with a turned finial. The body is cast aluminium finished in Weathered Bronze — close to black, with copper showing through on the edges of the fluting. The shade is curved glass with visible air bubbles in it. How tall it is and where it stands 109.4 cm is roughly bar-counter height, so the lantern lights the ground around itself rather than the wider garden — it goes along a path, at a driveway entrance or beside the front steps. The foot ends in a hexagonal flange measuring 18.5 cm at its widest, with fixing holes at the corners — the lantern bolts through them to a solid surface. What bulb it needs There is one E27 socket inside, taking a lamp of up to 60 W. No lamp is supplied. Elstead recommends a clear Edison-style LED of 7 W, 800 lm and 3000 K — 800 lm matches the old 60-watt bulb, and 3000 K is warm white. Clear glass hides nothing of the filament, so a lamp with visible structure is part of the look here. The fitting works with dimmable lamps but carries no dimmer of its own; that has to be added on the circuit. What it is made of and where it may go Cast aluminium does not rust, and IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction — the maker intends the lantern for outdoor use only and runs it on 220–240 V mains. The fitting carries a three-year guarantee. Seeded glass scatters light unevenly, so the pool of light is not a smooth patch — that is how this kind of glass behaves, not a fault in the piece.
