MONCLOVA is an 80 cm garden bollard in black aluminium, 12 × 15.5 cm in section, with a built-in LED module of 6 W / 526 lm at 3000 K and an IP65 rating. 80 cm — why that height A bollard's height is a matter of function, not taste. 80 cm is the "path" height: the light falls from above onto the surface, picking out edges, steps and unevenness, while the source itself sits below an adult's eyeline, so walking the path you are not looking into a lit fitting. For comparison: 30–50 cm bollards light only the bed immediately beside them, while 200 cm+ lanterns spread light widely but model the path itself poorly and dazzle more often. 526 lm is a sensible and deliberately modest amount of light. It is entirely sufficient for safe passage without turning a garden into a car park. Along a longer path, plan 3–4 m spacing — the pools of light then join up and no dark gaps form between them. IP65 — what that means in a garden IP65 means dust-tight and resistant to a water jet from any direction. In practice: rain, snow and garden watering are not a problem; the bollard can be washed down with a hose; it must not be installed where water collects after heavy rain — IP65 does not cover immersion. On a lawn that floods, raise the foundation above ground level. Materials, and what actually matters outdoors Aluminium — the body. This is the most important material choice for a fitting standing in soil: aluminium does not rust, so even a scratched coating does not lead to sub-surface corrosion and flaking paint, as happens with steel. Acrylic — the lit element. It diffuses the light and does not yellow as fast as ordinary plastics; it is also more impact-resistant than glass, which matters on a bollard standing at mower height. Colour: black — the most neutral among greenery; at night the body disappears and only the light is seen. Installation and limitations The light source is included and integrated — no socket, no bulb to change. Once the diodes are spent, the whole bollard is replaced. It is not dimmable, and 3000 K is fixed. Warm white is a deliberate choice outdoors: it attracts fewer insects than cool light and looks better on planting and timber. Supply 230 V — this needs a properly run and protected garden circuit, not an extension lead. Outdoor 230 V work is an electrician's job. Weight 1 kg — the bollard itself is light, so stability comes from how it is anchored in the ground, not from the mass of the fitting.
