ALGEMES is a ceiling fan with built-in LED lighting, not a flush ceiling light. A white cylindrical motor housing carries three broad blades in pale wood, and a round lens with the LED module sits underneath, in the hub. The span is 132 cm and the whole assembly is only 21 cm tall – this is the hugger version, with no long downrod. Two jobs from one ceiling point The point of a fitting like this is that a single point on the ceiling does two things: it moves air in summer and it lights the room all year. Air movement does not cool a room the way air conditioning does – it lowers the temperature you feel, by speeding up evaporation from the skin. In winter, running in reverse (where a model allows it), the same fan mixes the warm air gathered at the ceiling with the cooler air near the floor. The light The 18 W LED module gives 940 lm and is permanently built in – there is no bulb to change. That is comparable to a traditional 75 W bulb: enough as general light in a bedroom or a study, though a large living room deserves additional sources. The manufacturer does not state the colour temperature on the product card or in the catalogue – if it has to match the rest of the room's lighting, ask before ordering. Build and dimensions The blades are wooden, in a light and a darker shade, and the housing is white; the manufacturer lists the materials as wood, aluminium and ABS. The low 21 cm profile lets the fan go up where the ceiling is not high, but at a 132 cm span it is worth keeping clear of walls and planning it for the middle of the room rather than an edge.
