The agar media are available in bottles and tubes and represent the classic culture medium for microorganisms. Agar media in tubes are suitable for pouring onto agar plates. The contents of one tube are sufficient for two 90 mm or three 60 mm Petri dishes. Bottled agar media offer a cost effective alternative to cast iron plates.
