LØNSTRUP is one of those Danish designs that looks equally right on a 1970s house and on a new one. Three black metal tiers of decreasing diameter overlap above a clear glass cylinder, and the whole sits on an angled arm with a round wall plate.Why that shapeThe stepped tiers are not decoration. They shield the bulb from above, so the light does not escape into the sky or glare from upstairs windows, while the gaps between them let it out sideways — onto the wall and whatever stands beside it. The bulb is visible through the clear glass, so its choice genuinely changes the character of the fitting: an opal envelope gives a soft glow, a decorative filament a warm point of light.Dimensions worth knowing before you drillThe shade is 31 cm across, the fitting 28.5 cm tall, and it projects a full 36 cm from the wall. That last figure catches people out: on a narrow terrace or beside an outward-opening door it is worth measuring on the spot before drilling. The lamp weighs 2.025 kg.Several lamps on one cableThe fitting has a built-in parallel connection. In practice one cable can be terminated in its base and a second taken out of it — to the next lamp. A row of LØNSTRUPs along a facade or a driveway can therefore be fed from a single circuit, without junction boxes on the wall.Safety: class II and IP44The fitting is class II (double insulated) — no protective earth connection is required. IP44 means protection against solid objects above 1 mm and against splashing water from any direction: rain and driving rain yes, a garden hose no. Note: the maker states explicitly that this lamp is not suitable for seaside locations — salt mist attacks the finish faster than the IP rating alone would suggest.The bulbOne E27 lampholder, maximum 60 W.
