DONOSTIA is a plaster surface-mounted tube with a 7 × 7 cm square section and 11 cm height, fixed straight to the ceiling. A GU10 lamp sits inside, recessed deep into the body, so from below you see the reflector rather than the source itself. Plaster – a fitting you paint That is the essential difference from the hundreds of similar aluminium tubes. The body is cast in plaster, and plaster takes paint – it can be finished in exactly the ceiling colour so the fitting disappears and only the lit aperture remains. You can go the other way too and pick it out in contrast. From the factory the tube is white, in a raw matt finish that does not mirror light or catch highlights the way lacquer does. Plaster has one more property worth knowing: it is rigid and heavy for its size, but brittle. Do not overtighten it during installation and do not work the edges unsupported. In exchange it does not distort under the lamp's heat and does not shift colour over the years the way white lacquer can. The lamp choice is yours The GU10 holder takes a lamp of up to 10 W and none is supplied – which here is an advantage. You choose the colour (2700 K for living room and bedroom, 3000 K as an all-rounder, 4000 K over a kitchen worktop) and the beam angle: a narrow 24° turns this tube into an accent fitting for a picture or a worktop, a wide 60° gives soft general light. A 10 W GU10 LED delivers around 800–900 lumens today, so the power headroom is real. Where it works IP20 confines DONOSTIA to dry interiors. The square tube reads well in a rhythm – three or four in a line over a worktop, a kitchen island, a corridor or a run of cabinets. Mounting is on the surface, so there is no cut-out to make and no void needed above the ceiling; a 230 V supply and a standard back box are enough.
