FORNA is a ceiling light built from two slim illuminated bars that cross at an angle and meet at a small rectangular canopy. The whole thing spans 309 cm and stands only 8.8 cm clear of the ceiling — it lies flat against it like a drawn line rather than hanging.A drawing on the ceiling The two bars are not parallel. They intersect, making a figure on the plane of the ceiling that reads like a mark or a sketch — and that is the whole idea of the fitting. By day, switched off and white, it disappears against a white ceiling into pure geometry. Switched on, both bars light along their full length and the drawing becomes light.How much light that actually is The integrated LED module draws 39 W and gives 2245 lumens at 3000 K. That figure is worth setting against the size: 2245 lm spread over three metres is soft, diffuse light rather than a strong working output. FORNA works as general lighting in a bedroom or dining room and as a piece of the decor in a living room, but in a large space it is worth planning a second source alongside it — a floor lamp, wall lights, or spots over a worktop.Dimming The fitting is dimmable but has no dimmer of its own — control is through an external TRIAC dimmer fitted in the back box in place of an ordinary switch. It has to be bought separately and allowed for at the wiring stage. At 3000 K, with the light spread this way, being able to take it down really does earn its keep: it changes the character of the whole room.Construction and installation The body is aluminium with acrylic covers, in white — the acrylic diffuses the light and hides the individual diodes, so the bars glow evenly. The fitting weighs 2.8 kg and the LED module is integrated and not replaceable, so when its life ends the whole luminaire is replaced. IP20 protection confines it to dry interiors.Before you order Three metres of span is a dimension to check on site: the fitting has to sit within the axis of the room, and the supply point falls at the canopy rather than at the middle of the span.
