The reason was an assembly error by the manufacturer. The original gear was made from a urethane base but was factory greased with a petroleum-based lubricant. This lubricant has made the material porous over the years. During the replacement, you should therefore definitely clean the lubricant from the components. The material of this gear offered is mixed with graphite additives and does not require any lubricant! The attached disc gear also often fails because it has also come into contact with the wrong lubricant.
