Why a liner in a wicker basket Wicker is stiff and textured: the weave itself is not pleasant against a newborn's skin, and its edges can catch on clothing. That behaviour is typical of chemically untreated organic cotton and is not a fault. The practical consequence: after the first wash the liner may go into the basket with some resistance — do not force it, just lay it out and let it settle over a few days.
