The Carla CARLA-10 is a tapered drum lampshade: 26 cm across at the bottom, 13 cm at the top and 19 cm tall. The cream fabric is laid in even box pleats and the top and bottom edges are taped. Inside, the shade is lined with white polyester. Sizes and matching it to a base The bottom diameter is what decides a shade purchase, because it sets the proportion against the lamp base — here it is 26 cm. The top diameter is 13 cm and the height 19 cm, so the shade is distinctly conical and throws light downwards more widely than a straight drum on the same base. It is worth measuring your own lamp and comparing both figures: 26 cm at the bottom against 19 cm of height gives a low, wide silhouette of the kind usual on table lamps standing on a chest of drawers or a bedside table. How it mounts, and what it will not fit The shade has a fixed gimbal fitting, and a shade reducer is supplied so that it also fits a narrower holder ring. The manufacturer states outright that the shade is not suitable for use with pendants — it is intended for table and floor bases. It is designed around a classic GLS-shape lamp with an E27 cap, up to 60 W. No bulb is supplied, and neither is a lamp base — what is bought is the shade on its own. Fabric and finish The material is a cotton-mix fabric in cream, pleated in folds that run vertically over the full height of the shade. The edges are taped, which tidies the line of both the top and the bottom rim. The white polyester lining covers the frame from the inside and does not tint the light passing through it, so the colour of the bulb reaches the room unchanged.
