ABBANO is a table lamp of classic silhouette: a conical shade in cream, edged with a gold band at the lower rim, on a base of brushed brass. 38 cm tall with a 25 cm shade – the proportion typical of a lamp meant for a chest of drawers, a console or a bedside table rather than a desk. Brushed brass, not polished That distinction makes the whole difference here. Polished brass acts as a mirror: it reflects light in points and shows every fingerprint. Brushing leaves fine parallel lines on the surface that scatter the reflection – the metal keeps its warm gold tone but does not glare and does not need polishing after every touch. Over time brass naturally darkens, which on this finish reads as patina rather than grime. The shade and the band The shade is fabric, in cream – not white. That matters for the result: cream material warms the light passing through it by a fraction, so even a neutral lamp gives a gentler glow in this fitting.
