A chair with arms, not an armchair JOEL has a shape that misleads at first glance: the back wraps the seat in an arc and runs on into low armrests, leaving the characteristic arch-shaped cut-outs between them and the back. It is still a dining chair — a 50 cm seat height and 56 cm depth are dining dimensions, not lounge ones — but with a comfort an ordinary armless chair does not offer over a long dinner. Dimensions and matching a table The chair is 62 cm wide, 56 cm deep and 77 cm tall, with the seat at 50 cm — a few centimetres above the usual 45–46 cm. That matters when choosing a table: under a standard 75–78 cm top it leaves 25–28 cm of leg clearance, a comfortable figure, though it is worth checking that the armrests pass under the top — at 62 cm wide, measure before buying, especially where the table has a deep apron. Mocha upholstery The whole chair — legs included — is covered in a velvet-textured fabric in mocha: a warm, muted brown with a grey undertone. It is a colour that works with oak and walnut, with beiges and white, while being distinctly less safe than grey. The continuous cover with no visible frame makes the chair read as a soft volume rather than a frame with cushions. Build and weight 12 kg is heavy for a chair and speaks to a solid frame beneath the upholstery — not a piece you nudge with one finger, but not one that wobbles after a year either. The four legs are rounded and upholstered as well, so the chair presents no hard, sharp edges. Care Velvet-textured fabric wants regular vacuuming with a soft brush head — dust settling into the pile is what changes the shade of such upholstery fastest. Marks come off with a damp (not wet) cloth, always in the direction of the pile. Upholstered chairs in light and mid tones should not stand in full sun — brown fades faster than grey.
