EIK 3 is a bar with three GU10 spotlights, 45 cm long, in white metal. Each shade turns and tilts, and the manufacturer provides for mounting on ceiling as well as wall. Three independently aimed points The point of this fitting is its adjustment. Three shades of 8.5 cm diameter sit on a shared bar, but each aims on its own – the manufacturer gives movement ranges of 320° and 90°, which in practice means the spot can be turned almost all the way round its axis and tilted from vertical to horizontal. One fitting can therefore do three quite different jobs: all three pointed down as general light, fanned across a wall of shelves, or two on a picture and one on the armchair. When the furniture moves, nothing has to be rehung – just re-aim the shades. Ceiling or wall The manufacturer explicitly allows both mounting positions. On a ceiling the bar behaves as a classic spot rail; on a wall, as a triple directional light, which can be the better answer in a narrow hallway or above a bed where the ceiling is already taken. The 15 cm projection tells you how far the fitting stands off the mounting surface. Three GU10 sockets, 35 W each at most The sockets are GU10, and 35 W is the maximum per lamp, not the fitting's power – lamps are not supplied. That limit dates from the halogen era; today the sensible choice is three 5–7 W LEDs, together giving 1000–1500 lm at around 20 W of consumption. With three visible shades it is worth buying a set of lamps from one batch – a colour difference between neighbouring spots shows immediately. Beam angle sets the character: 36° gives three distinct pools of light, 60° softer, overlapping fields. The fitting is dimmable, but only with a dimmable lamp – it contains no control gear of its own. Metal, class I, replaceable cable Body and shades are metal, in white. Net weight is 0.7 kg – light enough that fixing needs no special measures, while the material stays rigid and does not flex when the shades are adjusted. Protection class I requires an earth conductor – in an older two-core installation, something to settle before mounting. The manufacturer notes that the cable is replaceable, which counts on a fitting with this kind of service life. Parallel connection of several units is not provided for. IP20 places the fitting in dry interiors – in a bathroom only outside the protection zones.
