Three shades on gently curved arms The 284 CLASSIC from the CLASSIC family is a classic chandelier with a clear, symmetrical build: three arched arms spring from the central stem, each ending in a cup, a lampholder and a tapered fabric shade. A 72 cm spread and a 65 cm drop give it the proportions expected of a light over a table — wide enough to cover the full width of the top, low enough not to disappear under a high ceiling. A turned ball closes the bottom of the stem, a small detail that finishes the classical drawing. A rigid stem means a fixed height The fitting hangs from a rigid rod with a brass-finish ceiling canopy, not from a chain or a cable. That matters when planning the installation: 65 cm is the final height, and it cannot be shortened or extended once the light is up. Under a standard 250 cm ceiling the bottom edge of the shades sits roughly 185 cm above the floor; over a dining table (top at about 75 cm) that leaves around 110 cm of clearance — the range where the shades light the tabletop without blocking the person opposite. Three E27 lampholders, 15 W each at most The chandelier takes three replaceable E27 lamps rated up to 15 W per holder. In practice that limit points to LED bulbs — 15 W of LED is roughly the old 60 W incandescent, so three of them light a table comfortably. Bulbs are not included, which leaves the choice of colour temperature to you, and the choice of whether the light should dim (that needs dimmable lamps and a matching dimmer). The shades are open at the top as well as the bottom, so part of the output goes to the ceiling and lifts the room indirectly — one more reason to pick lamps with a pleasant warm tone, since their envelope is visible from above. Steel in satin brass, with fabric shades The frame is steel finished in satin brass — a matt gold without mirror gloss, which reads calmer than polished versions and shows fingerprints less. The shades are sewn from ecru fabric over a rigid PVC liner; the warm white material warms the light and softens its contrast. A dry or barely damp soft cloth is enough for the metal, and the shades are best dusted with a soft brush — no wet washing, no abrasives. Where it works This is a light for rooms furnished in a classical or period-inspired way: above a dining table, in a living room with traditional furniture, in a study, or in the formal part of a house. IP20 means dry rooms only — not a bathroom shower zone, not an outdoor canopy. The manufacturer covers the fitting with a 5-year warranty.
