It turns a round pool of light into an oval one That is the whole function of this part, and it is meant literally. A downlight with no accessory throws a round pool — that is the symmetry of its optics. This diffuser, dropped into a NUMINOS fitting, stretches the light cone along one axis, so the pool on the floor or the wall becomes an ellipse.
