CLIFTON is a five-light pendant from the British brand Endon – an antique brass frame carrying five shades of clear cut faceted glass, hung on a chain, 50.5 cm across. Cut glass draws the light across the walls The shades are neither frosted nor opal – they are clear faceted crystal glass, cut on many planes. Each facet refracts the light at a different angle, so the lit fitting does not merely shine: it casts a pattern of reflections onto the ceiling and walls. The effect is stronger the more point-like the lamp you fit: an LED filament bulb gives sharp, defined sparkle, a frosted one something gentler. Set the height with the chain The pendant hangs on a 1.5 m chain, run alongside a clear cable. Shortening the chain sets the suspension anywhere between 40 and 172 cm – from close to the ceiling to a full drop over a table in a high-ceilinged room. It is the same fitting at both extremes, so the decision is made at installation, not at purchase. Five times E14, 6 W maximum The holders are E14 and the manufacturer sets a limit of 6 W per lamp – meaning LED, not classic 40 W candles. Five bulbs of 5–6 W give around 2,500–3,000 lm together, a proper figure for a dining room or hall. The light sources are not included. The fitting is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs and use a matching dimmer. Construction The metalwork is plated in antique brass – an electroplated finish rather than solid brass, so the fitting is far lighter than it looks: 4.5 kg all in.
