Each piece is woven by hand from the natural fibres of the abaca plant, and the light passes between the individual strands, throwing an irregular, shadowed pattern onto the wall. Abaca fibres do not form a solid shade — they lie loosely, so part of the light passes straight through, part bounces off the wall, and distinct shadows appear between the strands.
